Leon Hamiter
Leon is the President-Owner of Components Technology Institute, Inc, an engineering and consulting
firm. He has over 40 years experience with many types of components. This experience includes
component selection, specification, testing, failure investigation. reliability prediction and
problem solving. He has investigated counterfeit components failures and issues for OEMs, brokers
and Legal Firms. Using his broad experience he developed the Counterfeit Components Avoidance
Practices and Training.
Mr. Hamiter is a registered Professional Engineer with a BS in Electrical Engineering, University
of Alabama. Prior to retirement from NASA, he spent twenty-three years in the NASA/MSFC components
engineering group and was the manager for eighteen years. This group was responsible for the
electronic components engineering on MSFC projects and the NASA Standard Parts Program. He is also
founder of the worldwide Capacitor and Resistor Technology Symposium (CARTS), Components of Military
and Space Electronics Conference and Exhibition (CMSE), Failure Analysis and Component Test
Symposium & Seminar (FACTS), and Program Chairman for a number of years of the International
Symposium on Testing and Failure Analysis (ISTFA).
Donald V. Trenholm Don is President-Owner of Custom Analytical Services in Londonderry, NH. The company is a micro
analytical laboratory engaged in performing Failure Mode Analysis (FMA), Destructive Physical
Analysis (DPA) of microelectronics, printed circuit boards, component device packaging and related
materials. The Company has an engineering staff made up of electrical and chemical engineering
disciplines. Using OM, SEM, AES, EDX, Micro-FTIR, X-RAY, C-SAM, cross sectioning, digital imaging
and other sophisticated analytical techniques.
Don has been in the semiconductor industry since 1970 with Fairchild Semiconductor, General
Instrument Corp. and Custom Silicon Inc. prior to organizing Custom Analytical Services. His
education includes Northeastern University BSME, B.S.B.A. and M.S.B.A. from University of
Phoenix.
